SEATTLE -- The Thunderbird track and field distance team took to Seattle this weekend to compete in the UW Invitational. The weekend proved successful with both men and women breaking into the SUU school record book and performing admirably for the team.

Men's Team

The men's team brought the thunder this weekend as they competed against some of the best athletes in the NCAA. Mike Tate made his way up in the 3,000-meter landing a time of 7:56.43 placing him second in the SUU record book. This time also placed him fourth in the meet.

Kasey Knevelbaard performed well this weekend in both the mile and the 3,000-meter. Knevelbaard placed fifth in the school records with a time of 8:06.55 in the 3,000-meter. His time of 4:00.15 in the mile was a personal best and placed him fifth in the meet.

Another competitor, Matthew Wright, followed Knevelbaard with a time of 8:08.4 in the 3,000-meter.

Women's Team

Madison Fruchey also performed well for the Thunderbirds in the 3,000-meter this weekend. Fruchey broke into the school records by landing a time of 9:55.52. This time placed her eighth in the records and placed fifth in the meet.

On the women's side, Linnea Saltz competed in the 800-meter. Although it is not a personal best for Saltz, she still placed fourth in the meet for the Thunderbirds.
