STANFORD, Calif. -- The Southern Utah University track and field distance athletes proved to be prepared for conference championships as they competed at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California.
Linnea Saltz began the night with a record breaking performance in the 800-meter with a time of 2:05.82. Salz also finished with the second best collegiate time of the night.
In the men's 800-meter, George Espino finished with a time of 1:48.44 claiming the victory in the event.
Sharlie Dimick continued to break school records when she competed in the 1,500-meter. Dimick finished with a time of 4:17.83 ranking fifth in her heat.
Kasey Knevelbaard competed in the men's 1,500-meter where he finished sixth in his heat with a time of 3:43.95.
Also on the track, Angie Nickerson competed in the 5,000-meter where she finished fifth in her heat with another record breaking time of 15:46.02. This time ranks 14th in the nation at the time of publication.
The Thunderbirds will compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships on Wednesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 11.
