MIDWAY, Utah -- The first day of play at the 114th Utah Women's State Amateur Championships is in the books at Soldier Hollow Golf Course, with Thunderbirds looking to advance to Match Play.
Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan sits in a tie for second at the event, shooting an even 72 on the opening 18 holes.
Launa Wilson sits in a tie for 11th after shooting a five-over 77. Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong finished the day one shot behind Wilson, carding a six-over 78.
Hannah Gleason shot an 80, while Lexi Hamel shot an 81 on the first day. Tori Thomas also shot an 83 representing the T-Birds.
The second round of Stroke Play will be played on Tuesday, with Match Play starting on Wednesday.
