VILLETTE-D'ANTHON, France - Representing French Club Valescure, Southern Utah University golfer Anais Guibal had a strong outing at the French Division I Team Championships, hosted by Golf Club de Lyon in Villete-d'Anthon, France.

Competing against some of the top amateur female French golfers in the world, Guibal shot an 84 (+12) in the first round, as she and her four teammates combined to record a 388 (+28) to finish in seventh place and advance to the quarterfinal round.

The eight teams that made the cut were then placed into head-to-head matchups for the quarterfinals, based on their first-round scores. Guibal and Club Valescure faced off against Club Toulouse in the 7 vs. 2 matchup. Guibal was individually matched up against Mercer University golfer Tracy Rodriquez, as the pair battled on the course throughout the day. In a hole-by-hole scoring format, Guibal fell behind by three holes early; however, early on the back nine, she  battled to reduce the lead to just one hole. Rodriguez managed to take the 13th hole to go up by two, and the pair tied on the next four holes, with Rodriguez securing the win. Club Toulouse also safeguarded the team victory over Gubail and Club Valescure, ending their impressive showing in the tournament.

"The Division I French Tournament is a very strong tournament, and a great place to measure my abilities, competing against some of the top ranked players in France," said Guibal. "Having the opportunity to compete and play in the quarterfinals was amazing, and I can't wait to play in this tournament again next year."

Guibal has been a member of the Club Valescure team since 2019, and although this marked the end of team tournaments for the summer, she will continue to represent the club as she competes in individual tournaments throughout the remainder of the summer.
