STANFORD, Calif— The Southern Utah University Track and Field team closed a successful three-meet weekend with a flurry of event wins, highlighted by two broken school records from Haley Tanne and Astley Davis. Tanne broke her previous school record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Davis dominated the men's triple jump mark.

After breaking the women's steeplechase record two times last season, Tanne demolished her prior school record of 10:28.84 by sprinting to a time of 10:15.15 to secure a qualifying spot in the NCAA Regionals and third place in section two.
Madisan DeBos also had a strong showing in the steeplechase, taking eighth in her section with a time of 10:36.41.
Santiago Gaitan had an impressive outing in the men's 1500 meter, bolting to a time of 3:48.11, securing 10th place in the SUU record books and fourth place in section three.
Vince O'Boyle Track and Field Classic
Davis crushed the triple jump record with an enormous leap of 50'10 ¼", breaking the school record by two feet and dominating the rest of his competition to win the event. This mark now ranks him 14th in the nation in the triple jump.
Southern Utah secured three top-five finishes in the men's long jump. Davis went on to claim second place with a 24'1" and earned fifth place all-time in the record books. Cedar English flew to an identical jump of 24'1" to take third place and tie with Davis for fifth place all-time for SUU. Christopher Kappen rounded things out by taking fourth place with a jump of 23'1 ¾".
On the women's side, Jentry Skidmore clinched first place in the long jump with a mark of 19'3 ¼", to improve her hold on third place all-time for SUU in the event. Ajia Hughes finished close behind in fifth place with a 17'9". Hughes followed up this performance by winning the high jump with a 5'8", topping the rest of her opponents by nearly five inches.
Jaedyn Carpenter blazed to a time of 47.30 to win the men's 400 meters and claim fourth place in the SUU record books. Carpenter edged out his fellow Thunderbird Dylan Gibson, who burned to a 48.61 and second place in the event. Nick Pembroke cracked inside the top five, taking fourth place with a 49.73.
Secret Mceuen continued her charge up the SUU record books by rocketing to a new personal record in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.83 to earn second place in SUU's history. Mceuen also ran to second place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.18.
Joren McKeever had a stellar outing in the men's high jump leaping to a mark of, 6'9 ¾", placing second overall and tying him for eighth all-time in the SUU record books.
After securing the school record in the 4x100 Meter relay weeks ago, Ronnie Walker, Iana-Michovani Graham, Maya Benjamin, and Secret Mceuen secured another event win with a time of 46.58.
The men's 4x400 Meter relay team of Dylan Gibson, Jace Rodgers, Noah Bringhurst, and Matthew Hayes legged out the rest of their competition to take first place with a time of 3:13.74.
Cameron Beans ran a commanding race in the 100 meters to compile another first-place finish with a time of 10.76.
Savannah Nielson improved her ranking in the SUU record books in the 100-meter hurdles recording a time of 14.36 to take second place in the event and move her up to eighth all-time.
Nethaneel Taylor clawed his way into first place in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 9:15.78.
The Thunderbirds collected two personal records in the women's pole vault. Ariana Baker catapulted to a mark of 11' 1 ¾" to take fifth place and push her into fifth all-time for SUU. In her collegiate debut, Shelyse Ellingford vaulted to a 10'8" to take eighth place in the event and eighth in the record books.
Morgan Blackburn had a stellar performance in the women's discus. Blackburn hurled a throw of 148'9" to win the event and put her 10th all-time for SUU.
Bronis MacDougall recorded the second-best throw of his career in the Javelin with a 197'9" to take second place.
All of Southern Utah's hammer throwers achieved new personal records. Dominick Vasquez tossed a 164'9" to place third place, Dylan Petillo took seventh place with a 141'10", and Justin Weidauer slung a 123' to finish in 11th place. For the SUU women, Brooke Lynch finished in 11th place with a 129'11".
Mike Fanelli Track Classic
The Thunderbirds logged several personal bests in the 1500-meter and the 5,000-meter.
In the 1500-meter, Hayden Harward dashed to a time of 3:54.11 to secure 12th place, while Lanse Larsen finished right behind in 13th place with a 3:54.25. On the women's side, Nixie Killpack blistered to 27th place overall with a 4:36.05.
Addison Dalton and Coleman Cragun both ran impressive races in the 5,000-meter. Dalton finished in 35th place with a time of 17:23.34, and Cragun galloped to a time of 14:26.71 to take 19th place.

The Thunderbirds will now prepare for another weekend of split competition up north at the Utah State Aggie Invitational and the Utah Spring Classic on Friday, Apr. 7, and Saturday, Apr.8.
