AUSTIN, Texas– Southern Utah Junior Astley Davis captured First-Team All-American status with an impressive 8th place finish at the 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday evening. Davis broke the Southern Utah program record in the process triple jumping 16.17m.

Southern Utah University is proud to recognize Astley Davis for his exceptional performance during the 2023 outdoor track and field season including his exceptional performance at Nationals. Davis showcased his talent and commitment, achieving remarkable results this season in the long jump, triple jump, and 100m events.
In the 100 meters event, Davis recorded an impressive time of 10.79 seconds with a wind reading of 1.8 meters per second, displaying his speed and agility. He also contributed to the team's success in the 4 x 100 relay, achieving a noteworthy time of 42.15 seconds at the 2023 Utah Tech Invitational.
Davis's prowess continued in the long jump, where he achieved notable distances, including 7.34 meters at the 2023 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Davis displayed remarkable skill in the triple jump, setting a new school record twice this season, including the 16.17m mark at the national championships.
His outstanding performances throughout the season are a testament to Davis's dedication and talent, making him an invaluable asset to Southern Utah University's track and field team. We look forward to his continued success as a Thunderbird.
