SEATTLE, Wash./POCATELLO, Idaho - The Southern Utah University track & field program closed competition on two separate meets over the weekend as both teams participated in the UW and Stacy Dragila Invitationals on Friday, Jan 26, and Saturday, Jan 27.

"This weekend produced some additional great performances, both at Idaho State and the University of Washington. A couple of school records and many top 10 performances."

UW Invitational
The men's team posted strong finishes in the running events, including a second-place finish from Isaiah Labra in the 5000m with a time of 13:46.95 and a fourth-place mark from Travis Feeny with a time of 13:51.84. Labra would also achieve a 17th-place finish in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:02.33, good for sixth in school history.
Nathan Carlin led the 'Birds to a third-place finish and a time of 1:51.07 in the 800m. This time would also put Carlin fifth all-time in the event in SUU history. Kadan Allen followed that up in sixth with a time of 1:52.05, putting him eighth all-time.
In the 5000m, Madisan DeBos led the women in sixth place and a time of 16:42.67, good enough to improve her #5 all-time school mark. Josii Johnson also moved into the record books in the 800m with a time of 2:12.36 to put her 5th all-time in SUU history.
Stacy Dragila Invitational
Astley Davis continued to dominate the triple jump, improving his school record with a distance of 53'05.00" and putting him at third best in the NCAA. Joren McKeever also achieved a personal record in the high jump with a height of 7'01.00", placing him in second all-time at Southern Utah. Trenton Maurer improved his sixth all-time mark in the pole vault with a 15'03.00", also putting him in fourth place at the event.
In the shot put, Daniel Krynzel accomplished a PR of 52'00.50". This distance would also put Krynzel ninth all-time in school history. Stephen Campbell achieved a PR in the weight throw with a distance of 56'01.00", also ninth all-time.
The women's triple jump was led once again by Ajia Hughes, placing second in the event and improving her school record to 38'09.00". In the 200m, Shante Myrie placed second with a time of 24.83 seconds, tying her for seventh all-time in SUU history. Makenna Skoczylas and Shelyse Ellingford each achieved high marks in the pole vault with jumps of 12'01.25" and 11'01.50" respectively, placing Skoczylas second in the event and Ellingford sixth all-time.

Southern Utah will now travel south to Flagstaff for the second time in two weeks for the NAU Ron Mann Classic on Friday, Feb 2.
