CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- SUU Golf's Rashon Williams has been granted the amazing opportunity to compete in the PGA Works Collegiate Championship at the legendary TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on May 6-9.

The event will consist of 54 holes over three days of competition. There are 27 teams competing across three divisions and 52 players representing programs in the Men's and Women's Individual divisions.

Quotes from Head Coach Richard Church
"I am looking forward to Rashon's participation at TPC Sawgrass competing in the PGA Works golf tournament. Rashon has become a leader on and off the golf course, and we are happy to see him have this opportunity on a big stage."

The PWCC is known as the most culturally significant tournament in collegiate golf. The annual tournament hosts student-athletes enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, and other Minority-Serving Educational Institutions. In 2023, 197 students from 58 schools competed.

The PGA Works Collegiate Championship was created in 1986 to highlight the competitive golf programs at the most underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions in the country and to educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. 75% of competitors in 2023 identified as "non-white"

"I applied to play in the tournament because of my sister, Aliyah Williams. She played in it a few years ago and has always wanted me to play in it as well. I am so excited about the tournament because it is a rare opportunity to play against minorities like myself. It is a cool opportunity to represent my name and Southern Utah University and hopefully play well enough to receive an exemption to a PGA Tour event," said Williams.
