Women's Soccer Heads To The State Of Idaho For Two Game Road Trip

CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team will head to the state of Idaho for two more preseason matches against Idaho State on Thursday, Sep 11, and Boise State on Sunday, Sep 14.

Head Coach Kai Edwards said

"Last week we earned a split against two very good teams. This week we play two teams that create many different match up scenarios. It is nice to get on the road and hang as a team. We need to build on a four goal weekend and our first shutout of the year and get after these teams."

The Bengals
Idaho St is 1-3-2 on the year, with a big 1-0 win coming at the University of Denver on Aug 18. Most recently the Bengals forced a 0-0 tie at North Dakota State on Sep 8, and before that they had dropped their last three games in a row.

The Bengals are led by Paige Harris, who has two goals on the season and five shots on target. Isabella Winton is the only player for ISU to record an assist so far. Perhaps the most important player for the Bengals is goalkeeper Trinity Hale, who has already amassed 25 saves on the year and logged three shutouts.

The Broncos
Boise St is off to an impressive 4-1 start to the season, including 3-0 at home. They have recorded at least two goals in all their wins, and their only loss is to Nationally-ranked BYU.

The Broncos will play at Utah Tech on the Thursday before the Thunderbirds arrive.

BSU has scored 12 goals this season, led by Carly Cross and Morgan Padour, who each have three goals. Avery Mcbride also had six points on the season, with two goals and two assists. Cross also leads the team in total shots, with 27 so far.

The Thunderbirds
SUU had an impressive four-goal weekend, with Sarah Assumma logging two in the shutout win over Colorado College, Chelsea Loeser getting her second of the year against Denver, and Kiersi Fietkau scoring her first in a Thunderbird jersey.

Whitney Gardner still leads the team with seven points on two goals and three assists. She now sits in a tie for all-time career assists at SUU.

Darya Mosallaei has continued to improve with each performance, now with 23 saves and one shutout on the year.
