CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team is reaching a crucial point in Western Athletic Conference play. Hosting Abilene Christian and Tarleton State this week, the Thunderbirds likely need two results to make it to postseason play, with the final three WAC matches coming against the top three teams in the conference.

Versus Abilene
The Thundebirds faced the Wildcats of ACU on October 5 in Abilene. The Wildcats came away with a 4-0 victory, scoring two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half.
Avery Kyle led the team, with all four of her shot attempts landing on target; both statistics were team highs. Sarah Assumma, Whitney Gardner, and Kayleigh Acree all added three more shot attempts.
The T-Birds set a new season-high with 18 total shots; they also earned eight corners and drew 12 fouls.
For the first time all year, Jamzyn Brass subbed out of the game and was replaced by Esme Barnes. Barnes recorded four saves, all in the second half.
Aubrie Labno led all Thunderbirds with 87 minutes played.
The Thunderbirds
SUU is 2-9-2 on the year and 1-4-0 in conference play. The Thunderbirds have now fallen just below a goal per game average, but are still creating a lot of chances. Logging 18 shots and 15 shots against ACU and Tarleton State, the last time the teams matched up.
Whitney Gardner and Sarah Assumma still lead the T-Birds with nine points each on the year, both recording three goals and three assists.
Gardner leads the team with 31 total shots and 18 shots on goal, nearly 60% of her shots are on target.
Esme Barnes was in goal last time out against Utah Valley after Jazmyn Brass received a red card in the match against California Baptist. Barnes did a quality job against the top team in the WAC. Making seven saves on 14 shots faced.
The Wildcats
ACU is coming off a 2-2 draw against Tarleton State last time out, which left its record at 5-7-2 and 1-2-2 in conference play.
The Wildcats average exactly one goal per game and almost 12 shots per game.
Four different Wildcats scored a goal against Southern Utah in their last match, but the Wildcats are still led by Abby Smith, who has nine points on four goals and one assist. Peyton Hill leads the team in total shots and shots on goal with 33 and 15.
Bella Medrano has the most minutes played in goal for the Wildcats. Recording 61 saves on 178 total shots faced.
