MADISON, ILLINOIS -- Southern Utah Men's Golf fired an impressive nine-under-par 275 as a team in round two of the SIUE Dolenc Invitational that helped them to a 13th-place finish, closing the event with a three-round total of 859 (295-275-289).

Head Coach Richard Church said

"Round two showed what this team is capable of. We showed how well we can score and now we have to find that for three rounds."

Tournament Recap

Charlie Gillespie led the Thunderbirds with a strong bounce back after a tough opening round, finishing tied for 38th at +1. Gillespie's second-round 66 (-5) was the team's lowest score of the week and the lowest score of his collegiate career. He capped his tournament with a final round one-under-par 70.

Uy Doan and Jing-Cheng (Jarell) Wang each turned in consistent performances to tie for 43rd at +2. Doan carded rounds of 73, 69, and 73, while Wang opened with a 72 before adding a second-round 68.

Braylon Bingham followed closely behind, tying for 51st at +3. He played steady golf throughout with rounds of 73, 72, and 71.

Rounding out the lineup, Colton Cherry placed 96th at 240.

The Thunderbirds' best team score came in the second round with a 275, one of the lowest single-day totals of the entire field.

The T-Birds had 45 birdies and an eagle through the three rounds.
