SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA -- Southern Utah Women's Golf wrapped up play at the Soboba Spring Classic in San Jacinto, California, hosted by UC Riverside and Fresno State, finishing 10th overall with rounds of 336, 321, and 323 for a team total of 980.
Head Coach Caylyn McKinlay said
"We battled really tough conditions the first day, and couldn't find a rhythm after that. It was our first tournament after a long winter break and we are still getting back into tournament form. We are looking ahead to the Babs Steffens Invitational in a couple of weeks."
Tournament Recap
Siriporn (Orchid) Luangnam led the Thunderbirds, finishing tied for 21st at 236 (+20). Luangnam posted three consistent rounds of 80, 78, and 78, showing steady improvement throughout the tournament.
Ellie Olsen followed for SUU with a total of 244 (+28), highlighted by a strong second-round 77. Kiana Roddy finished at 254 (+38), while Kirsten Hall added a 256 (+40). Taylyn Wilson rounded out the lineup with a 259 (+43).
Competing against a solid West Coast field at The Country Club at Soboba Springs, the Thunderbirds continued to gain valuable experience and showed resilience over three demanding rounds. The event marked another step forward for a young SUU squad as it continues to build momentum during the spring season.
