CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- Southern Utah University and the Southern Utah Athletics Department have announced the hiring of Quintin Ward as an assistant coach for the Southern Utah Thunderbirds women's volleyball program ahead of the 2026 season.
Head Coach Danielle Jensen said
"We are extremely excited and lucky to have Coach Ward join the Thunderbird family. He brings a lot of energy and a really good understanding of the game and the culture we are trying to build here at Southern Utah!"
Originally from Provo, Utah, Ward joins the Thunderbirds after spending the past two seasons as First Assistant Coach for the Charleston Golden Eagles men's volleyball program under Head Coach Robert Poole. During his time with the Golden Eagles, Charleston earned postseason appearances in both seasons and recorded a historic road victory over Penn State, the first in program history.
At Charleston, Ward assisted with scouting, recruiting, player development, match preparation, budgeting, travel coordination, and day-to-day program operations. He also incorporated sports psychology and mental performance into athlete development and team discussions.
Ward began his coaching career in 2019 with Club Elevate before coaching boys club volleyball at Club V Sports, leading teams that competed at the national level. He has also spent the past five years coaching camps nationwide with Gold Medal Squared.
At the high school level, Ward served as junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach at Mountain View High School, helping establish boys volleyball in Utah during the sport's first sanctioned seasons. The program later captured the 2025-26 state championship.
Ward played collegiately as a libero at Utah Valley University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology before completing a Master of Business Data Analytics at the University of Charleston.
