CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Golf team is set to open the 2026 Fall Season up in Saratoga Springs, Utah, at the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by Utah Valley University.

Head Coach Caylyn McKinlay said

"We're excited to get the season started and feel like we're in a good place heading into the tournament. The first event of the season is a test of patience and consistency, so our focus will be on staying composed, sticking to our game plan, and taking it one shot at a time. If we can do that, I think we'll put ourselves in a good position within this competitive field"

Tournament Information

What: Wolverine Invitational, hosted by Utah Valley

Where: Talons Cove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, Utah

When: Monday and Tuesday, September 14-15

Format: 36 holes will be played on Monday, and the final 18 holes on Tuesday

Who: Weber State, Eastern Washington, Utah Tech, CSUB, Southern Utah, Portland State, Utah Valley, Idaho State, Wyoming, Idaho, and three BYU individual competitors

The Thunderbirds

The T-Birds lineup will feature three new faces in the first tournament of the 2026-27 season. Saylar May and Jaden Johnson are both freshmen who have made an immediate splash in qualifying and will certainly be looking to count their scores in the first tournament of the year; Rosalie Langlois is a sophomore transfer from Arkansas State who has shown she has the talent to win tournaments.

Luangnam will play the No. 1 spot again, after a final qualifying round of 69 at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course. Luangnam is looking to bounce back after a frustrating sophomore season.

May is perhaps the most intriguing player for the Thunderbirds. She is a true freshman from Alberta, Canada, and won the 2025 U19 Provincial Championship.

Ellie Schoeffler is heading into her senior season and has improved her scoring average each season she has teed it up.
