BOZEMAN, Mont. - Saylar May secured a top-three finish while Siriporn (Orchid) Luangnam saved her best for last as the Southern Utah women's golf team wrapped up the Yellowstone Intercollegiate Tuesday at Riverside Country Club.

May capped the tournament with a two-over 74 to finish tied for third at three-over, while Luangnam surged up the leaderboard with a two-under 70 to finish tied for sixth at four-over. The duo gave Southern Utah a pair of golfers inside the top six of the individual standings.

The Thunderbirds finished seventh as a team at 42-over 906 (304-299-303). SUU's second-round 299 marked its best team score of the tournament.

Head Coach Caylyn McKinlay said:

"To have two players finish in the top 10 is something we can be proud of, and both of them showed a lot of fight throughout the week. There are still areas where we know we can improve as a team, but there are a lot of positives we can take away from this tournament. We are looking ahead to New Mexico State's event now and are excited for the opportunity to compete in a strong field and see what we can do."

The Thunderbirds

Saylar May led Southern Utah for the tournament, finishing tied for third at three-over 219 (76-69-74). After opening with a 76, May authored SUU's best round of the tournament Monday with a three-under 69 to vault into contention entering the final 18 holes.

May followed her sensational second round with a two-over 74 in Tuesday's finale. Her final round included 13 pars as she held on to a spot among the tournament's top three. May finished the 54-hole event with two rounds of 74 or better, highlighted by her six-birdie performance during Monday's second round.

Siriporn (Orchid) Luangnam provided the fireworks during the final round, firing a two-under 70 to climb into a tie for sixth at four-over 220 (74-76-70).

Luangnam recorded four birdies during Tuesday's final round, taking strokes off the course at Nos. 1, 8, 11 and 16. She paired those four birdies with 12 pars while recording just two bogeys across her final 18 holes. Her closing 70 was six shots better than her second-round score and four better than her opening round.

The combination of May and Luangnam gave Southern Utah two golfers separated by just one stroke in the final standings, with both finishing among the top six.

Jaden Johnson finished tied for 41st at 16-over 232 (76-76-80). Johnson was remarkably consistent through the opening 36 holes with matching rounds of 76 before closing with an 80. Her final round featured a birdie on the par-three sixth along with 10 pars.

Rosalie Langlois finished tied for 55th at 24-over 240 (83-78-79). After a difficult opening round, Langlois responded by shaving five strokes off her score during the second round before closing the tournament with a 79 Tuesday. She finished with 11 pars during her final round.

Ellie Schoeffler closed the tournament tied for 60th at 27-over 243 (78-85-80). Schoeffler responded to her second round by cutting five strokes off her score Tuesday. Her final-round 80 was highlighted by a birdie on the par-three 12th.

Competing as an individual, Kirsten Hall finished tied for 63rd at 29-over 245. Hall closed with an 85 in the final round after playing the opening 36 holes at 16-over.
