Booth to Compete at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University's Nic Booth has qualified to compete in the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, July 14-19 at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

Booth punched his ticket via a second-place finish at the Glen Eagle Golf Course in Syracuse, Utah on June 16. The SUU senior shot an eight-under-par 136 over the two rounds, opening the competition with a five-under 67 and following that up with a three-under 69.

The West Jordan native will tee off at 12:50 p.m. and will be joined by David Germann and South African Calvin Pearson. The tournament is scheduled for two stroke-play qualifying rounds on Monday and Tuesday with the top 64 advancing to match play rounds, lasting through Saturday when a champion will be crowned.

An SUU golfer last appeared in the U.S. Pub Links Championship in 2010 when Jeff Evans qualified for the event at the Bryan Park Champions Course in Greensboro, N.C.
