Portland, Oregon - The Thunderbird women's tennis team played a pair of matches over the weekend in Portland, where they took on South Dakota State University and Portland State University.
The Thunderbirds saw the most success on Thursday, when Charity Sagiao won the first match of the season for the team with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory over Beatriz Souza. Veronika Rogova also pushed the No. 1 match to three sets, but eventually fell 7-6, 6-7, 14-12.
On Saturday against the Vikings, both Rogova and Marushko pushed their matches to three sets, but both ended up on the wrong side.
Next up for the women's tennis team will be a trio of matches in Las Vegas, where they will take on Youngstown State, Idaho and UNLV.
