Southern Utah Volleyball Announces 2016 Season Schedule

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Thunderbird volleyball team has released their schedule for the upcoming 2016 campaign.

The Thunderbirds will play in four tournaments before heading into Big Sky Conference play, as they will travel to events hosted by California Berkeley, Utah Valley, Nevada and Air Force.

The T-Birds will play their first match at home on September 24 when rival Northern Arizona will take a trip to Cedar City.

“I hope we win a bunch,” SUU head coach Craig Choate said about the upcoming season. “I think it's a little tougher of a preseason schedule than it was last year. Denver is a team that went to the NCAA Tournament and won 20 plus games, they're quite good. Cal didn't do good in the Pac-12, but they're Pac-12 athletes so that's going to be huge. Were playing Gonzaga and UC Davis again and we lost to both of them last year. So overall, I think it's pretty good without being a monster. It's the kind of schedule we want to get us ready for the season.”

The Thunderbirds are coming off a very successful season, where they counted several school records including highest hitting percentage for an entire season and blocks in a season.
