CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah University women's tennis team travels to Las Vegas on Friday, February 10th to play Youngstown State, with two more matches on Saturday the 11th against Idaho and UNLV. The Idaho Vandals will be the Thunderbirds' first conference match of the 2017 season.
“This weekend's matches will be tough but we have worked hard and prepared well. It will be a good indication on where we are at with our game and how we start to match up with the rest of the conference. It's going to be an exciting weekend of tennis,” Thunderbird Coach Rose Ketmayura said.
Previously on T-Bird Tennis
In their last match against the Utah State Aggies, the Thunderbirds found the most success in the singles competition, with senior Evgenia Marushko, junior Mikala Lowrance and sophomore Charity Sagiao all winning their respective matches.
The Youngstown State Penguins will be heading into Las Vegas with a current record of 3-1, after winning their last match against Saint Francis. Their only loss so far in the 2017 season came at the hands of Duquesne University.
The Idaho Vandals come into Saturday's match with an overall record of 2-1. The Vandals have played one conference match so far this season, defeating Portland State 4-0.
UNLV has a current record of 3-1. The Rebels swept their matches against New Mexico State and Pacific, their only loss coming after they were swept by Pepperdine. The Rebels have yet to play a conference match.
Friday's match against Youngstown State will start at 11 a.m., Saturday's match against Idaho will be at 11 a.m. and UNLV's at 3 p.m.
