MADISON, Wis. -- The Southern Utah Thunderbird No. 15 men's and No. 31 women's cross country teams competed in preparation for nationals this weekend at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals. The women finished eighth overall and the men finished tenth.
On the women's side,
Angie Nickerson lead the Thunderbirds clocking in a 15th place finish with a time of 20:37.9. Nickerson was followed by
Maddy Kauffman with a time of 20:51.7 resulting in a 24th place finish.
Madison Fruchey and
Alison Pray were the next to cross the finish line placing 38th and 56th.
The women finished eighth in the competition with an overall score of 237. The team competed against nationally ranked teams such as No. 3 New Mexico and No. 5 Stanford. The Thunderbirds were able to finish the race ahead of No. 20 Utah State and No. 28 Georgia.
Aidan Reed lead the men's team with a 13th place finish. Reed crossed the finish line with time of 24:09.3.
Christian Ricketts followed for the Thunderbirds and finished his race with a time of 24:28.7. Coming in 43rd,
Nate Osterstock finished with a time of 24:35.8.
The men wrapped up the race with a total score of 356 placing them tenth overall in the competition. The men were able to pull ahead of No. 20 Michigan and No. 28 North Carolina State.
