IRVINE, Calif. -- The Thunderbird women's tennis team was victorious over the Concordia University Irvine Eagles taking the match 6-3 in Irvine, California.
In the doubles competition, Ghita Nassik and Daniela Cozzi cut it close, winning the match 8-7(2) in a tiebreaker in the No. 1 spot.
Concordia University won the No. 2 spot, but Zoe Tanti and Laura Martin of Southern Utah responded, taking the No. 3 position (8-4), putting the Thunderbirds up 2-1.
Southern Utah won four of six matches in the singles competition, providing enough leverage for the Thunderbirds to win the match. Ghita Nassik took the No. 1 spot with relative ease (6-2, 6-1), which set a theme for the rest of the T-Birds wins in the singles competition.
