CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird men's tennis team seeks to improve upon their winning record and four game winning streak in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend against the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.
Opponent Preview: University of Hawai'i at Hilo
The Vulcans ended last season with a positive record of 13-11 and are 3-0 so far this season. Six of their 11 rostered players are upperclassmen, most of which are international students from Taiwan, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Brazil.
The 2018 tennis year marks the third season that head coach Tina McDermott serves as the leader for both the men's and women's tennis programs. In 2017, McDermott was named the Wilson/ITA West Region Men's Coach of the Year, after the Vulcans showed a seven-win improvement from the previous season. Coach McDermott is accompanied by assistant coach Sean McDermott.
