CHENEY, Wash. -- Southern Utah women's tennis team defeated Eastern Washington University 6-1 on Sunday in Cheney, Wash.
Eastern Washington came out strong, claiming the doubles point after winning in the No. 1 and 3 spot. The No. 2 spot was unfinished.
Southern Utah found their groove coming into the singles competition, winning  every spot. In the No. 1 spot, Ghita Nassik won in a close contest to Smith of Eastern Washington in a three set match.
Eira Tobrand came out in the No. 2 spot, winning in another close contest, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. She was followed by Charity Sagiao in the No. 3 spot who won in a two set match against her opponent, 6-1, 6-4 to put the T-Birds at a 3-1 advantage.
Coming out in the No. 4 spot was Thunderbird Alex Ngo who won her match with relative ease, 6-2, 6-1. Daniela Cozzi pulled off her match in a very close contest in the No. 5 spot defeating Swindell of Eastern Washington University 7-6(6), 7-5.
To finish off the match, Mikala Lowrance put Southern Utah ahead 6-1 overall with her win in the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-2.

After the match, head coach Rose Ketmayura commented, "The girls closed out the regular season strong. We came out hard after losing the doubles point. It's been a very eventful season and we're excited for the conference tournament."
