LONG BEACH, Calif -- The Southern Utah University Thunderbird track and field teams took on competition at the Mt. SAC Relays, the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Beach Invitational in California with several record breaking performances.
Mt. SAC Relays
Angie Nickerson competed at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday in the 10,000-meter run where the athlete finished second in her heat. Nickerson finished with a time of 33:12.87.
On the men's side of the team, Aidan Reed also competed in the 10,000-meter where he finished with a time of 29:28.04.
Bryan Clay Invitational
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Jentry Skidmore opened the day of events with a mark of 19' 0" in the long jump. This mark ranks second in SUU history as well as 18th in the competition.
On the track, Sinclair Watson competed in the 100-meter where she finished with a time of 11.92. Watson was followed by Rakayla Tyler with a time of 11.98.
Linnea Saltz finished 11th overall in the competition in the 800-meter with a time of 2:06.36, also breaking the SUU school record.
On the men's side of the team, George Espino also broke the school record in the 800-meter with a time of 1:47.58. Espino finished third overall in the competition.
The men's 4x100 relay team composed of Brandan Harley, Justin Lewis, Frank Harris III and Devon Montgomery finished fourth in the competition with a time of 41.07.
Montgomery also competed in the 110-meter hurdles where he finished with fifth a time of 14.16. He also competed in the 400-meter hurdles with a finishing time of 52.61 placing him first in the Big Sky Conference at the time of publication.
Harris competed in the high jump where he finished first and broke the school record with a mark of 7' 3". This mark also ties for sixth in the nation at the time of publication.
Kasey Knevelbaard competed in the 1,500-meter where he finished third in his heat with a mark of 3:43.05.
Beach Invitational
Alexis McAllister began the day in Long Beach with a record breaking throw in the javelin. Mcallister finished with a mark of 151' 0".
Skyler Porcaro competed in the javelin where he finished fifth with a mark of 228' 11". After competition, Porcaro was also nominated the Best Collegiate Thrower of the invitational.
Jordan Porcaro also competed at the Beach Invitational in the hammer throw where he finished with a mark of 196' 3 1/2".
The T-Birds will continue competition at the Beach Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
