CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Southern Utah University women's tennis is set to begin conference play as they face Portland State University on Monday, February 17 in Portland, Oregon at 11:00 a.m.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds last faced in-state rival Utah State University where they fell 0-7.
Chloe Purkiss and Jessica Stefan were the only Thunderbirds to secure points for the team. The pair competed in doubles where they faced Sidnee Lavatai and Hannah Jones. Purkiss and Stefan claimed the hard fought victory 7-5.
Opponent Preview
The Portland State Vikings currently sit 1-3 in the 2020 season. In 2019, the team finished 5-10 overall and 2-8 in the Big Sky Conference.
The teams last met in 2019 where the Thunderbirds claimed the victory over the Vikings 5-2.
Zoe Tanti and alumni athlete Charity Sagiao defeated their opponents 7-5 in doubles play. Tanti also competed in singles where she claimed another victory 6-1, 0-6, 6-2.
Daniela Cozzi also competed against the Vikings in singles play where she finished ahead of the competition 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
