CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Southern Utah University men's tennis team will be facing Colorado Mesa University at home on Friday, February 21. They will also be traveling to Salt Lake City for competition against the University of Utah on Saturday, February 22.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds most recently faced UC Riverside where they lost a hard fought battle 3-4.
Juan Erro competed in singles competition where he defeated his opponent, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. Keonho Shin also finished victorious in singles play 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
The Thunderbirds swept all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. RJ Parker and Jake Williams won 6-3 in the No. 1 spot, Conor Tordoff and Nolan McCaig won 6-2 in the No. 2 spot, and Juan Erro and Keonho Shin won 6-2 in the No. 3 spot.
Opponent Preview: Colorado Mesa University
Colorado Mesa University currently sits 4-2 in the 2020 season. CMU finished the 2019 season 5-15 overall.
The teams last met in 2017 where the Thunderbirds topped CMU 5-2. It was just the second win in program history and the first win home win ever.
Opponent Preview: University of Utah
In the 2020 season, University of Utah currently sits 7-4 overall. The Utes finished the 2019 season 17-12 overall and 2-6 in the Pac-12 Conference.
This will be the first time the two teams have ever faced each other in program history.
