CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball team announced its 2022 recruiting class today. Finley Charapata from Appleton, Wisconsin, Amaya Tobias from Las Vegas, Nevada, and Maddy Walker from El Dorado Hills, California, will make up the trio of players joining the Thunderbirds next season.
Finley Charapata, Outside Hitter, 5-10, Appleton, Wisconsin.Â
Charapata will be joining Southern Utah from Appleton North High School, having played volleyball for her school and also for the club team FC Elite.
Amaya Tobias, Middle Blocker, 6-2, Las Vegas, Nevada.
After playing for Nevada State High School and the club team Top Flight, Tobias will be coming to Cedar City to join the Thunderbirds.
Tobias had a successful high school career, with her team being the runner-up at state in the 2021 season. In addition to this, her team finished third overall in the Red Rock Rave tournament two years in a row.
Maddy Walker, Outside Hitter, 6-1, El Dorado Hills, California.Â
Walker comes to Southern Utah after playing for Oak Ridge High School and the Omni volleyball club team.
Walker boasts an impressive prep career, being named to the All-League First and Second Team during her time at Oak Ridge. Her squads qualified to the state tournament during her two years on the varsity squad. Walker was nominated as an Under Armor All-American in 2021.
