MIDWAY, Utah - Southern Utah University golfers Rashon Williams and Donovan Barnes are set to compete in the 2022 Utah State Amateur Championship at Soldier Hollow Golf Club in Midway, Utah this week.
The pair of SUU golfers will be in action today and tomorrow, playing one round at the Gold Course and one at the Silver Course. Match play will begin on Wednesday as the top 64 players in the field from the first two days of play will make the cut. Match play will continue until Saturday when the 2022 champion will be crowned.
After teeing off this morning, Barnes is currently tied for fourth, sitting at -1 through five holes, while Williams is in a tie for 47th at +1 through eight holes.
Other Thunderbirds competing in the event include former SUU golfer Ryker Smith, Southern Utah basketball alumni Ryan Brimley, SUU alumni Dexter Edwards, and the TV voice of the Thunderbirds, Spencer McLaughlin.
Live scoring for the 2022 Utah State Amateur Championship will be available throughout the event at uga.org.
