Coach Tracy Mason said
"Becca is one of the greatest players in program history. She is an extremely hard worker and she understands the expectations of the coaching staff because she's lived it. She will be such a great resource for our student-athletes. Becca shares the same competitive spirit as the rest of this staff and I know she's going to be an amazing fit."
"Kayla has the most infectious personality. She is someone you just love to be around. She has a real gift for the game and wants to coach. Kayla comes with great experience in the WAC, she knows what it takes to be successful, and she's going to be a tremendous addition to the program."
Rebecca Bourgeois joins the Southern Utah coaching staff as Director of Basketball Operations after a successful collegiate career as a player and spending some time professionally overseas. T-Bird fans will recognize the legendary player who spent four years in Cedar City as a starter. Having earned the title of Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year and numerous other accolades during her time at Southern Utah, Bourgeois is well-acquainted with the Thunderbird's program and brings an unmatched level of expertise to the team.

After an illustrious senior campaign where she led the Big Sky Conference in scoring and earned First Team honors, Bourgeois finished her college career as Southern Utah's all-time leader in steals with an impressive 301 steals and second all-time in assists with 494. Her on-court achievements and leadership qualities are sure to inspire and guide the aspiring players on the team to new heights.
Kayla Anderson, a standout player during her time at Utah Valley, has been named as a graduate assistant coach for the Thunderbirds. While her senior season was cut significantly due to injury in her junior season in 2021-22, Anderson exhibited exceptional skills on the court, starting in 23 games and averaging 3.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Her highlight moment came when she achieved her first career double-double, recording 17 points and 10 rebounds in an impressive win over Utah Tech. Anderson's consistent performance earned her a spot on the Academic All-WAC Team for the second time, reflecting her dedication both on and off the court.
Before her time at Utah Valley, Anderson showcased her talent at Midland College in Texas and Salt Lake Community College. Her journey through college basketball has equipped her with invaluable experience, making her a valuable asset to the Southern Utah Women's Basketball program.
As former players who have excelled both on the court and in the classroom, Anderson and Bourgeois embody the values of Southern Utah University and are eager to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of student-athletes.
The Southern Utah Women's Basketball team anticipates an exciting and promising season ahead. With the addition of Rebecca Bourgeois and Kayla Anderson to the coaching staff the Thunderbirds will look to defend their WAC Conference Championship in the 2023-24 season.
