CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Golf team is prepared to open their spring season at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational at the Green Spring Golf Course in St. George, Utah. The event will happen over three days (Feb 11-13), with each team playing 18 holes per day.
"I am excited to start the year off in St. George, playing a course that we have been able to practice at and work to get comfortable on. We had a solid Fall season, so hopefully that will continue throughout the Spring," said Head Coach Tara Oglesby.

The Thunderbirds
Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic will head the lineup for SUU. A 5'6 junior from Miren-Kostanjevica, Slovenia, Kovacic really came into form in the last couple of tournaments of the Fall, shooting multiple rounds under or at even par. Her best finish was a T48 at the Big Sky Women's Invitational.Â
Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn, the 5'6 senior from Chiang Mai, Thailand, finished in the top 10 in two of the four fall tournaments and has been the most consistent player for the Thunderbirds. A stroke average of 71.75, the only player for SUU to average under par.Â
Anais Guibal, a 5'9 junior from Montpellier, France, has also shown the ability to put together some quality rounds and score well for the team. In the first tournament of the fall season, the Timpanogos Collegiate Invitational, she fired a 68 and a 69 in the opening and closing rounds. She had a -2 finish, putting her in a tie for 17th on the tournament.Â
Freshman Ellie Olsen will be the fourth in the lineup. She played in all four tournaments in the Fall and got a lot of quality tournament experience.Â
Cornelia Karlsson, the 5'6 senior from Oslo, Norway, will provide a lot of tournament experience to a rather young group. She will round out the lineup in the five spot.Â
Reece Bandemer, a 5'8 freshman from Loveland, Colorado, will play as an individual for the Thunderbirds. It will be an excellent opportunity to gain experience and try and earn a spot in the lineup for future tournaments.Â
