SEDONA, ARIZONA -- The Women's Golf team competed in the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by NAU over the weekend and finished 18th as a team at +64.
Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn and Anais Guibal both secured top-25 finishes for the tournament. Thalangkarn finished tied for 18th at four over par, shooting rounds of 73-73-74. Guibal tied for 24th at +6 for the tournament, aided by a stellar final round that saw four birdies on the back nine, leading to a one-under par 71 finish.
Northern Arizona and Seattle U tied for first place at +17 in the team finish, Grand Canyon finished third at +19.
Emily Romancew from NIU won medalist, shooting three-under par for the tournament. Northern Colorado's Louise Dahl finished second at -3, and Lizzie Neal from NAU took home third at -1.
The Thunderbirds improved with each round of the tournament, starting with a 316 in round one and then shooting 311 in round two. On the final day, they put together a quality 301 as a team.
"We are still figuring out some things as a team, we are getting better as the season goes on. Just need more consistency throughout our whole team, but a lot of positives to take away from the weekend," said Head Coach Tara Oglesby.
