CEDAR CITY, UTAH—Alexa Lord, who graduated in 2024 with a Master's degree in business with an emphasis in healthcare administration, was a perfect recipient for the award that is given to one male and one female student-athlete who has demonstrated excellence in academic achievement, athletic accomplishment, exceptional character, and community engagement.
A $10,000 postgraduate scholarship is endowed to the winners.
Six other female student-athletes were named finalists for the award.

SUU's Director of Athletics, Doug Knuth, said
"We are incredibly proud of Lex and all of her accomplishments. This is a great honor and so well-deserved. Having gotten to know Lex, nobody works harder at her sport, in the classroom, and in the community. She always strives to be the best she can be, and we are grateful for her time as a Thunderbird."
Lord, a five-year player on the Thunderbird women's basketball team, finished her season having started a career-high 21 games. She was a leader on and off the court, racking up 182 points and 168 rebounds in her final season. She also served as the Co-President of the Student Success Advisory Committee for her final two years.
Head Coach Tracy Mason said
"I can't imagine anyone more deserving of this award. Alexa is such a tremendous representative of this program and our University. She is the definition of hard work, leadership, and perseverance. But even more amazing is her ability to do what she does while serving others and sharing her huge heart with those around her."
Lord has been accepted into the prestigious Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine but will defer her enrollment to serve an 18-month mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Dominican Republic.
Alexa Lord said
"I am so grateful and so honored to receive this award. I owe everything to God and all the incredible people He has placed in my life. I hope my family, coaches, teammates, teachers, friends, and supporters know my gratitude for them. I wouldn't be where I am today without their support."
