The Thunderbirds
SUU Soccer is coming off one of its best results in years, earning a 1-1 draw against reigning Mountain West Regular Season Champions, Boise State. The Thunderbirds improved to 0-2-1 on the season.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Jazmyn Brass has been the anchor of the Thunderbirds' defense. Brass earned the WAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after her seven-save performance against the Broncos. She leads the conference in saves and is tied for 11th in the nation.
Senior forward Avery Kyle scored the equalizer for SUU last time out. And nearly netted the game-winner, a shot that ricocheted off the cross-bar and straight down to the grass.
Freshman Carly Radke leads the team with all four of her attempted shots landing on target. Sarah Assumma leads the team with five total shots.
Defender Nao Yasuda leads the field players with 260 minutes played on the year. Yasuda, Aubrie Labno, and Rylan Tebbs have been phenomenal on the back line for the Thunderbirds.
The Bears
Northern Colorado is 1-2-1 on the season, and currently on a two-game losing skid. Most recently, the team lost a 2-1 battle against Fordham on August 23.
Two goalkeepers have started and played 180 minutes each through four games for the Bears. Kaya Lindberg earned one loss and one win, accumulating 15 saves in two starts. Maddie Smith has a loss and a tie on her record with 10 saves through two starts.
Lexi Tuite leads the team with two goals, eight total shots, and four shots on net. Brooke Holmberg and Taryn Rea are the only two players with an assist on the year.
The Pioneers
SUU and Denver matched up against each other a season ago in Cedar City, with the Pioneers leaving Southern Utah with a 5-2 victory.Â
DU finished Summit League play with a 5-1-2 record a season ago and entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed. They fell to South Dakota State 1-2 in the semifinals.
Denver is picked to finish third in the Summit League preseason polls, with Brooke Ahern and Hannah Tate landing on the 2025 Summit League Women's Soccer Players to Watch list.
The Pioneers are currently unbeaten, boasting a 1-0-3 record on the year. They started the year with a 2-1 win over Air Force, and have since rattled off three straight draws: 0-0 versus Colorado College, 0-0 versus Baylor, and a 1-1 finish versus Seattle U.
Alina Santos has been unbelievable in net for the Pioneers. Amassing 20 saves on the year already and a 91 save percentage.
Samantha Dreiling leads the Pioneers with two goals on the year, but only three of her nine shots have been on target.
