FRESNO, CALIFORNIA -- The SUU Men's Golf team improved in each round they played at the Watney Invitational in Fresno, California, at the San Joaquin Country Club. A final round of 295 pushed SUU to a solo 13th finish.
Head Coach Richard Church said
"We have to put it together for 54 holes. We are very talented and are good enough to compete in these tournaments, but we have to play more disciplined golf."

The Thunderbirds
Braylon Bingham led the Thunderbirds with a strong showing, finishing tied for 22nd at +6. Bingham opened with a 73 and added an even-par 71 in the second round to pace the SUU lineup.
Uy Doan followed in a tie for 48th at +11, highlighted by a steady final-round 73 (+2). Charlie Gillespie finished just behind him in a tie for 52nd at +12 after rounds of 77, 73, and 75.
JingCheng (Jarell) Wang posted a +23 to place 73rd, while Sky Moon rounded out the Thunderbird lineup at +25, bouncing back with the team's best final round of the day with a 72 (+1).
SUU had a total of 21 birdies and an eagle through the 54 holes.
Southern Utah showed improvement as the tournament progressed, shaving nine strokes off its opening round by the final day while competing against a solid West Coast field. The Thunderbirds will look to carry that late momentum into their next spring event.
