CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Southern Utah women's tennis team defeated Montana in a close match at home in Cedar City to advance to an 11-7 overall record.
Thunderbirds Ghita Nassik and Mikala Lowrance performed in the No. 1 spot of the doubles competition, but did not finish. In the No. 2 spot, Eira Tobrand and Zoe Tanti took down their opponents from Montana 6-3 to put Southern Utah at an advantage to win the doubles point.
Laura Martin Lozano and Daniela Cozzi wrapped things up in the No. 3 spot winning their match 6-2, clinching the doubles point for the T-Birds.
The doubles competition, the matches were close, starting off in the No. 1 spot with Ghita Nassik falling in a close competition 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 to Ronney from Montana.
Zoe Tanti pulled away with in her match, cutting in close but winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot, followed by Eira Tobrand in the No. 3 spot defeating Joanlanne from Montana 6-2, 7-6 (6).
In the No. 4 spot, Bostrom's win marked the second and last point of the match for Montana. T-Birds Mikala Lowrance and Alex Ngo won their matches with more ease in the No. 5 and 6 spots, solidifying the win for Southern Utah, 5-2.

Looking back on the match, head coach Rose Ketmayura said, "It was a very close match today. It could've gone either way and the girls found a way to pull out the big points to pick up the win."

The next match will be on Friday, April 13 at 12 p.m. in Cedar City against Sacramento State University.
The match on Saturday, April 14 at 12 p.m. in Cedar City against the University of North Dakota.
