Southern Utah University Athletics

Setting the standard for those teams that followed, the 1999 Thunderbird Men's Cross Country Team was the first from Southern Utah to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Meet.  They also claimed the NCAA Mountain Region Title in what has been dubbed the "Miracle In the Mountains," by upsetting the No. 3 Team in the country.  Jody Benson (Summit League Athlete of the Year), Curtis Moore, Zach James, Dustin Hudspeth, Rod Oslund and Mark Wright, along with Summit League Coach of the Year Eric Houle, will go down as one of the most successful teams in the history of Southern Utah University.
