Regarded as one of the best athletes to ever compete for the Southern Utah Cross Country and Track and Field programs, and one of the most decorated former student-athletes in the history of the University, Baumgartner set the bay by earning All-American status for the Thunderbirds on the Cross Country circuit in 2006.  He was also a multi-time conference champion while competing for SUU, and a multiple-time Academic All-American.
