Burgoyne helped lead the SUU volleyball team to four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships, two District VII Titles and a pair of appearances at the NAIA National Tournament, where the team finished fourth in the nation in 1981. Burgoyne was named SUU's Outstanding Female Athlete i n1983 and All-RMAC First Team in volleyball that same year. While playing basketball, Burgoyne was named honorable mention All-RMAC from 1981-83 as well as earning Academic All-American in 1982.
