Challis started teaching at SUU in 1982 as an adjunct, then was hired to run the campus radio station (KSUU) in 1987 as a professor.  In 1992, Challis earned his master's degree from UNLV before returning to earn his doctorate in 1998.  Challis has been "The Voice of the Thunderbirds" for more than 40 years.
