Dr. Lunt headed the Track and Field Team from 1972-79 and was Head Athletic Trainer from 1965-80.  Lunt also held assistant coach positions in both football and basketball alongside serving as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics from 1979-87 before assisting in SUU's transition from NAIA to NCAA Division I. During his time at SUU, Dr. Lunt also served as the Assistant to the President for Special Events and Projects, which included founding the Utah Champions Awards.  He also founded the SUU Athletic Hall of Fame, Coaching Factory Hall of Fame and Co-Founded the Utah Summer Games.
